Our client is a multi-award-winning international architecture practice based near Liverpool Street are looking for a Commercial Operations Manager where you will be working with the company directors to achieve success and meet the business's targets and support contracts within the company. The role will involve working closely with project teams and senior stakeholders to make an impact. The ideal candidate will be someone who’s had previous experience managing multiple projects, is proactive, and professional, enjoys dynamic problem solving, excels in contract management and enjoys being in a collaborative environment.
The Role
• To assist in contract negotiation and preparation.
• To ensure the project teams are connected to their appointments, knowing their deliverables, programme, invoice points and PM duties.
• To monitor and ensure the company tools; project plans, resource charts, billing schedules, and holiday schedules are fully used and up to date by the Teams.
• To coordinate with Wren insurers to ensure compliance with their advice and expectations through their audit process.
• To assist with programme and deliverables coordination when projects have multiple design discipline teams.
• Provide line management of the admin support team to enable design management support.
• To assist with any commercial evaluation/assessment of Strategic ideas from the board.
• To monitor and evaluate the efficiency of any regular design suppliers; outsource / CGI / 3D printing.
• To support the ongoing development of their Integrated Management System.
• To assist the directors in resolving ongoing contractual and commercial problems.
• Negotiation skills for contract, nuanced with the necessary cultural adjustments when working internationally.
• Find the balance between support and understanding of the pressures the team are under and enforcement to be compliant with the company tools.
• Rigour and Diligence on key tasks; all projects meeting all standards.
• Report to Senior Management key risks in New Business proposals.
• Report to Senior Management key risks in Project delivery.
• Financial responsibilities.
• Assist in the scoping and pricing of variation orders.
• Prepare financial plans and budgets for projects and resources.
• Develop financial risk assessments for projects.
• Ensure the financial aspects and impact of a contract are clear to Project Directors.
• Oversee and monitor the financial KPI.
• Reporting to Senior Management every month.
• Maintaining accurate records through the live dashboard.
• Assisting in the development of the organisation’s commercial processes and business planning Self Development.
• Acquire new skills and expertise valuable to you and the business.
• Show initiative and drive, challenging yourself to work outside your comfort zone.
• Maintain professional standards and meet professional body requirements.
The Candidate
• Strong commercial awareness.

• Strong contractual knowledge.
• Good project management skills; experience in managing multiple projects.
• A minimum of two years experience within the built environment is essential, architecture and/or design are desirable.
• Strong communication style, credibility and gravitas, able to influence and challenge at senior levels.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
• The ability to work effectively in complex organisations, interfacing successfully with a wide range of teams, willing to engage with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to demonstrate a track record of being proactive and self-managing.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Excellent IT skills, including thorough knowledge of Excel.
