Senior Interior Designer for an award-winning design studio in East London
An award-winning design studio are looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join their small design team. They are a small team of highly creative architects and this is a new role for a designer to join them. The studio works on a number a high end residential development projects. They get involved in almost every aspect of designing the spaces they create, from the building exterior and gardens to the design of every element of the interiors, from finishes to FF&E, creation of original art and lots of bespoke lighting and joinery design.
This role will see you work on exciting UK projects, working alongside the creative directors. You will be taking on a number of joinery details as well as FF&E design.
Some responsibilities for this role include the following:
Act as the creative lead designer on residential projects.
Ensuring design output meets the brief and comes to life within budget
Overseeing the creation of exciting concepts, developed design schemes, detailed technical design packs, specifications and tender documentation for sharing with clients and contractors
Doing hands-on concept and CAD design and hand-sketching, sourcing, procurement and putting together schemes and all other creative assets and project documentation relating to projects
Leading site meetings and internal studio meetings with clients, suppliers and contractors, also mentoring others to do so, giving them a clear role in meetings
Managing design project teams and tracking scope of works and invoicing
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/attributes:
A really exciting design portfolio in residential design, both highly creative and technically strong
Strong understanding of project set-up, procedures, processes, programme, budgets and contractual arrangements
Strong construction and onsite knowledge and experience
Inventive, stylish sourcing and specifying of products, lighting, furniture and decorative finishes (FF&E)
Experience negotiating with suppliers to secure best price, terms and value for clients
Excellent organisation skills and proven ability working well under pressure
Ability to prioritise and deliver projects within agreed budgets and timescales
Proficiency in Vectorworks/AutoCAD (essential), same with InDesign, Photoshop, basic SketchUp and Microsoft Office/Excel
Great communication skills and staying ahead of to-do lists
