White Space are working closely with a large architectural practice looking for Director of Interiors.
This role is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Associate Or Design Director to step into a pivotal role taking over a small team of designers and a big opportunity to grow the business. You will have the opportunity to take the established business to the forefront of design and be able to diversify into areas previously perhaps untapped. This is a role for someone who is looking for a new challenge and someone looking to grow and develop the company and projects and team.
The ideal candidate for this role will have 10+ years’ experience in any sector but predominantly large scale commercial projects. You would be a proactive individual, able to think critically and work both independently and within a wider team as required. Within the wider team you must be able to build trust and instill confidence in your colleagues, supporting and inspiring them to succeed. With new projects won you'll have the full support of a great practice to grow the team having got the space to double in size if required. A highly social office with a key figures in the business supporting you will have a well established marketing, HR and support network to help.
A key part of this role will be winning new projects, the applicant must be able to show evidence of winning new work and bringing in to the business new contacts and projects.
The key responsibilities of this position would be:
Working collaboratively with other Department Directors.
Preparing and/or reviewing design briefs and guidance.
Work across the UK and International liaising with clients, stakeholders and the team.
Participating in/lead design review workshops and meetings.
Creating project specific design narratives, presentations and guidance for use internally and to external parties, consultants and owners. Provide design/brand guidance to external consultants as required on each project.
Develop design strategies that align with business objectives.
Managing budgets and financial performance to ensure a profitable team.
To be considered for this role you must demonstrate the following:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience within multidisciplinary design.
Commercial and large scale project experience.
Proven experience with winning business. This is a key expectation on all applications.
Experience in running a design office including fee proposals, budgets and project planning.
Strong knowledge of accessibility, planning codes and technical requirements as it relates to architecture and design.
Candidate must be fluent in both spoken and written English.
Able to produce freehand sketches alongside strong skills.
Experience in either Autocad or Revit.
Adobe Suite (Acrobat Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design).
Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Aptitude to effectively handle multiple projects.
Commercially minded and experienced with reviewing contracts and other legal documentation.
Availability and willingness to travel as required, occasionally at short notice.
Excellent management of external stakeholder relationships.
Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
